Description
The Aesop shrimp has a long upward bent rostrum. The claws on the first pair of legs are so small that the can not be seen with the naked eye. There are fine oblique red lines on its body and on the back there is a pattern of white speckles shaped like a saddle.

Size
The maximum length is 160 mm.

Colour
The body is transparent with fine red lines and often a patch of white speckles on the back. The antennas have white and red bands.

Habitat
From the shallow water to great depth. Most common between 10 and 25 m. Lives on various substrates.

Distribution
North Atlantic ocean.
