Description
The long-clawed porcelain crab has an almost round carapace. The first pair of legs and the antenna are twice as long as the body. It feeds on small organism that it filters out out the water. It has five pair of legs, of which the last pair is very small and is hidden under its body. It is not able to swim, but can run sideways in case of danger. The carapace is very smooth and shiny.

Size
The carapace has a maximum diameter of 10 mm.

Colour
Usually chestnut-brown, but occasionally olive-green or beige.

Habitat
They can be found up to a depth 100 meters, but normally in shallow coastal areas, hidden between bryozoans and hydroids. On the beach they can be found in whelk spawn.

Distribution
From southwestern Norway to Angola and all the Mediterranean Sea.
