Description
The opossum shrimp is the largest member of the Mysida family in Zeeland. They can often be found in large numbers hanging upright in the water. The bent tail is then dominantly visible. During night dives they can be found in large numbers in shallow water between weeds.

Size
Length up to 25 mm.

Colour
They are often transparent but light to dark brown species can also be found.

Habitat
Shallow salt or brackish water.

Distribution
North Atlantic ocean. Introduce to north America in 1960.
