Description
Orange-striped green anemone is often overlooked because it lives just below the
high water line. This is the a place where divers usually prepare their gear before
starting the dive. It is also a small animal that hides deep between rocks end stones.
Size
It grows up to 15 mm high and the tentacle diameter is up to ± 20 mm.
Colour
The column is usually green or brownish and the tentacles are pale, although more
pale columns can be found as well. On the column there are 8 to 20 orange lines.
The oral disc is light brown and sometimes shows red speckles.
Habitat
This anemone lives on hard substrate and likes natural stones and rocks, just below
the high tide line. We could never observe an animal on concrete or asphalt, it
can be that these are too toxic for the animal.
Distribution
They can be found in the Oosterschelde and Westerschelde, there are no findings
from the Grevelingen so far.
