Description
This nudibranch feeds on anemones and often to be found
eating the foot or stem, hidden in the sand. Its back is covered with many rows
of short cerata. Only the triangle between and the middle of the back are not
covered. The cerata run al the way to the oral tentacles, that are as long as
the smooth rhinophores. It often has white speckles on the head and back. The
spawn is laid in a typical spiral.
Size
Up to 120 mm long and 25 mm wide.
Colour
Usually beige, but often purplish, brownish or greyish. The cerata and rhinophores
have white tips.
Habitat
From the tidal zone up to a depth of 60 metres.
Distribution
In the Oosterschelde and in the Grevelingen.
