Description
This encrusting sponge is much paler then the more common Prosuberites epiphytum. Mycale micracanthoxea is the favourite food of Geitodoris planata.

Size
Crusts can reach a size of several centimetres and are a few millimetres thick.

Colour
Yellowish brown to greyish brown.

Habitat
From the low tide line up to a depth of bout 15 metres.

Distribution
On hard substrates in the Oosterschelde and Grevelingen.
