Description
This tuff but also soft and smooth sponge usually grows in small crusts on hard substrates. It has a striking colour and forms compact patches. There are different species of encrusting sponges that are difficult to identify. Till very recent this sponge was named 'Prosuberites epiphytum'.

Size
The average size is about 120 mm to 150 mm.

Colour
Can vary from bright yellow to reddish brown.

Habitat
From the shallow coastal waters to very deep waters.

Distribution
Common in the Oosterschelde and the Grevelingen.
