This vase shape sponge has a terminal excurrent opening, surrounded
by little calcareous spicules. The ciliated sponge has a fluffy looking mantle.
They are rather small and are very inconspicuous.
They can grow up to 50 mm, but usually they are much smaller.
White to beige, often covered with debris.
At a depth of a few metres on stones and shells. Can also be found between weeds.
North Atlantic from the Arctic till the Mediterranean.
